Summer Programs
The summer is an important time for students to catch-up or advance in their academics and enrichment activities. Students could use this time to enhance their academics and college applications. A few options include going to summer school, taking a class at the local community college, attending a special program, doing community service or working for an internship.
- Junior high students: in order to take calculus in high school, we highly suggest you go to summer school for math.
- Sophomores: can start preparing for the SAT.
- Juniors: can spend this time beginning personal statements and conducting additional college research.
- Graduated seniors: buy your college books ahead of time to avoid long lines and potential late homework assignments.
Although the SJSU MESA Schools Program does not have a summer program, we strongly recommend students to take advantage of the programs listed below or any opportunity available. Check this site later for additional postings.
Some programs may require a letter of recommendation. Consider using your MESA Advisor as a reference. Whoever you ask, give this person ample time to create the perfect letter. Provide this person a list of your extracurricular activities and description of the program you are applying for so he/she may best advocate for you.
